We work out which aspects of service development can realistically be influenced by the people receiving those services and the best way to enable them to have their say.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Types of activities include<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>discussion forums<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>surveys<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>issue-based focus groups<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>co-production<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>task-and-finish and other working groups<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>service user involvement in recruitment and selection<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>participation in procurement processes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>mystery shopping<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>public meetings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>participation in management boards<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>filmed case studies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How we undertake these activities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Adult social care engagement within Devon County Council (DCC) is co-ordinated by our Involvement Team, based within the adult social care commissioning part of DCC. We work in partnership with Disability Together as holders of a contract to provide local engagement activities, and we undertake some activities ourselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We also commission Healthwatch Devon, the local statutory consumer voice organisation and work with the County Council&#8217;s independent Equality Reference Group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Involvement Team<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Adult Social Care Involvement Team consists of:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Kathryn Bird<\/strong>: Involvement Manager<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Jill Singh<\/strong>: Involvement Officer &#8211; Learning Disability Specialist<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Joanne Haynes<\/strong>: Commissioning Support Assistant<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Robert Hawken<\/strong>: Engagement Officer with a learning disability (supported by employment mentor Danielle Mortimer)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Ethan Scott<\/strong>: Business Administration Apprentice<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Contact the team at <a href=\"mailto:socialcareinvolvement-mailbox@devon.gov.uk\">socialcareinvolvement-mailbox@devon.gov.uk<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Making involvement meaningful<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Involvement Team works with other managers to identify aspects of our services that people can realistically influence. This ranges from seeking feedback on high-level strategies, such as the Living Well, Ageing Well and Caring Well strategies, to undertaking detailed co-production of aspects of our service provision, such as developing new assessment forms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We organise regular forums for engagement, such as the Learning Disability Partnership Board, and a range of other groups and activities which take place on an ad hoc basis.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Involvement and Equality Team is responsible for our approach to engagement and the ways in which we involve people in adult social care issues, including co-production opportunities.
