It focuses on managing thoughts of suicide \u2013 it is not a long-term plan to deal with low mood or other mental health difficulties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A safety plan should be created before crisis point \u2013 it is about being prepared and having the plan available when you need it. The plan should be individual to you and include what you would do, and who might support you, in a crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/devoncc.sharepoint.com\/:b:\/s\/PublicDocs\/AdultSocialCare\/ETuy2Gl5sN5Mvuewjgkm6YMBua532dWPKCDp1yi87EhWUQ?e=3DNmSn\" rel=\"noopener\">A safety plan resource<\/a> (for download and print) is now available for use across Devon, Plymouth, and Torbay. Like the \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/adult-social-care\/factsheet\/suicide-prevention\/\">OK to talk about suicide<\/a>\u2019 resource, the safety plan also comes in a handy z-card format. You can complete it for yourself, or ask someone you trust to help you \u2013 they might be someone who can help you when you are struggling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To get hard copies of the safety plan please email <a href=\"mailto:publichealth-mailbox@devon.gov.uk\">publichealth-mailbox@devon.gov.uk<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Samaritans have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.samaritans.org\/how-we-can-help\/if-youre-having-difficult-time\/create-a-safety-plan-for-when-youre-feeling-suicidal\/\" rel=\"noopener\">guidance on creating a safety plan<\/a>, as well as information for those who are supporting others to develop a safety plan.
