A housing association buys the property and sells a\u00a0share of it to you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You might need a mortgage to buy a share of the house and will pay rent on the rest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Own Your Home website provides a single gateway for first-time buyers to find the right government scheme for them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Home Ownership for People with Long-Term Disabilities (HOLD) scheme<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have a long-term disability and you are unable to buy a home in another shared ownership scheme that meets your&nbsp;needs, the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ownyourhome.gov.uk\/scheme\/hold\/\" rel=\"noopener\"> Home Ownership for People with Long-Term Disabilities<\/a> (HOLD) scheme offers you the chance to buy a home on&nbsp;the open market on shared ownership terms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Older People&#8217;s Shared Ownership Scheme (OPSO)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ownyourhome.gov.uk\/scheme\/opso\/\" rel=\"noopener\">OPSO Scheme<\/a> is a form of shared ownership available to people aged 55 and over.
