Provision of academies and free schools

In line with the Freedom of Information Act 2000 we would like to receive the following information from you:

1) We would like information on the total number of places you had in ‘state maintained alternative provision’ in the academic year 2017/2018 in your local authority. Please could you provide us with the number of places you had in:
• pupil referral units (PRUs)

None

• alternative provision academies (academised PRUs)

We have 160 places for pupils who would have otherwise been referred to the PRU. This is because a PRU is only for the AP and Ex Circ pupils (pupils on medical places are not in a PRU they are in medical provision)

• alternative provision free schools (PRU alternatives)

Devon County Council do not have any alternative provision free schools so we do not hold any further data.

2) We would like information on the number of vacant places in ‘state maintained alternative provision’ which were available in your local authority as of 1 July 2018. Please could you provide us with the number of vacant places you had as of 1 July 2018 in:
• pupil referral units (PRUs)

None

• alternative provision academies (academised PRUs)

Due to the way places are commissioned by the Local Authority (LA) we do not have a vacant amount of places at any one time. The number of places we purchase is 160 averaged throughout the year

• alternative provision free schools (PRU alternatives).

None
