“I am writing to you under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 in relation to a potholes research.

I would like to receive the following figures:

1) Number of potholes repaired by the Council in the last five financial years (from 2012/2013).

2012/2013 – 10,7124

2013/2014 –   7,2541

2014/2015 –   5,4667

2015/2016 –   5,1227

2016/2017 –   6,2012

2) Outstanding number of potholes currently requiring repair.

6,605 live pothole reports as of 1600hrs on 06/02/18

3) Number of compensation claims due to highway defects for the last five financial years.

2,687 claims relating to potholes have been received in the past 5 financial years.

4) Number and value of compensation claims made due to highway defects.

Number as above. Value = £1,317,843

2012 – 2013: 159 claims paid

2013 – 2014: 488

2014 – 2015: 490
