Fordton Village Road and George Hill Crediton

I am writing to request information under the Freedom of Information Act relating to a road your authority is responsible for maintaining.

Specifically, my query relates to the Fordton Village Road and George Hill Crediton

Please can you send me:
A copy of your current road maintenance policy relating to that road. Please send me the full policy, but this should include details of the intended frequency of road safety inspections, how these inspections should be conducted and the maximum time between identification of a defect and repairs being carried out.

The road maintenance policy is set out in the Devon County Council Highway Safety Manual which can be viewed online at:

https://www.devon.gov.uk/roadsandtransport/maintaining-roads/highways-safety-inspections/

A copy of the road repair history for that road over the past year. Again, please send me the full road repair history, but this should include:
– Details of all safety inspections between 25th October 2017 and 27th October 2017

Please see attached the record of inspections available via the link below:

We can further clarify that, with reference to the Highway Safety Manual, the Road from Fordton Cross to Station Cross (Fordton Village Road) is a Category 7 Collector Road, inspected 6 monthly and George Hill, Crediton is a Category 9 Service Road, inspected annually

– Details of how safety inspections were undertaken. ( walked or driven, speed of inspection vehicle, etc.)
- Details of all carriageway defects identified, with description, date and time.
Carriageway inspections are driven at an appropriate speed for road conditions and defect identification. Each inspection is undertaken by a qualified inspector and a driver who may also be a qualified inspector.
– Details of how the authority handled these defects, what repairs were undertaken and the time between the identification of each defect and the repair being carried out.

Please refer to the attached records which include details of identified defects and repairs.
