1.How many children’s needs assessments were closed as ‘no further action’ in the financial year from beginning of April 2018 ‘ end of March 2019

There were 2,254 children’s needs assessments that were closed as ‘no further action’ in the financial year from 01/04/2018 – 31/03/2019

2. How many of these children were referred to early help after their case was closed

There were 766 children’s needs assessments that were outcome as Step down / Referred to Early Help services in the financial year from 01/04/2018 – 31/03/2019

3. The number of children assigned to each social worker employed by the council as part of their caseload during the week beginning 20th January 2020

To identify how many children were assigned to each social worker we would have to manually review the caseload of over two hundred and sixty social workers, even if each one only took five minutes the total time needed would be in excess of the 18 hours allowed under the Freedom of information Act 2000 Section 12 – cost of compliance.

However, we can provide a snapshot of data calculated from 20/01/2020, as follows :

There were 3,743 instances of children in the children in need cohort being allocated to a Social Worker as their main allocated worker on 20 Jan 2020
The above 3,743 instances were allocated to 262 unique Social Workers

4. The number of children assigned to each social worker employed by the council as part of their caseload in the year beginning April 2018 to end of March 2019

There were 2,894 instances of children in the children in need cohort being allocated to a Social Worker as their main allocated worker on 31/03/2019
The above 2,894 instances were allocated to 266 unique Social Workers

5 A breakdown of the number of meetings held between each social worker employed by the council and each child in their care during the year beginning April 2018 ‘ end of March 2019.

During the period 01/04/2018 to 31/03/2019:
a. There were 9,099 instances where a Social Worker conducted a Child Looked After statutory visit.
b. The above 9,099 instances were carried out by 282 unique Social Workers
