Who provides the broadband service to schools in your local authority?

Schools receive Broadband services from a range of providers, we do not hold a central list. Many receive provision from the South West Grid for Learning (SWGfL).  Please contact them directly using the information on the link provided.

If you/your local authority no longer provide broadband services to schools, at what date did this service cease?

As a local authority we do not, and never have, required schools to use any particular provider and we understand that we have never provided Broadband services directly to schools. Therefore,we do not hold this information.

If you do provide the broadband service to schools’ what date do the contracts end?

What notice period is required by the school?

We do not hold this information.

What content filtering and firewalls do you use/schools use with regards to internet security/online safety?

In relation to Devon County Council, this information is exempt under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 Section 31(1) prevention of crime. We have carried out a public interest test and although there is a wider public interest in being open and accountable, in this case we believe that given the range and sensitivity of personal data about clients and employees we hold and process it is not in the public interest to disclose details about our network security. Given the responses to the previous questions we do not hold any information about school network security.
