Adult Social Care complaints 2013-2018

1) How many complaints were made in respect of Adult Social Care between 2013 and 2018.

3) in what percentage of the investigations at (2) were Devon Council found to be at fault.

4) Where Devon County Council were found to be at fault, in how many cases, between 2013 and 2018, were ‘financial remedies’ offered in line with the Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman remedy guidance).

5) In respect of (4) what was the total amount offered as ‘financial remedies’. 

This information is included within the reports linked to above from 2015/16 onwards; prior to this date the total paid, waived or reimbursed as a result of complaints between 1/4/13 and 31/3/2015 was £5,807.

6) How many of the cases at (4) related to ‘avoidable distress’. 

We may hold this information but to identify, locate, retrieve and locate it we would have to review each individual complaint and as the number of complaints is 883 at approximately 5 minutes each the total time needed would be over 73 hours, well in excess of the 18 hours allowed under the Freedom of information Act Section 12 – Cost of Compliance.

7) Between 2013 and 2018 how many compliant cases in respect of Adult Social Care went to the Local Government Ombudsman following investigation by Devon County Council.
