Hiya, M@x here and spring is in the air. Well, Mum’s zipping around the house scrubbing and vacuuming anything that’s not moving, including us, if we stand or sit still for too long. She is blitzing the house in a mad frenzy and said we can stay in the living room until it’s all done and dusted! Literally! S he’s said we can read or watch approved DVD’s. Approved by parents that is……
Mum has got hold of a copy of The Lost World by Arthur Conan Doyle for me to read. Yup, he’s the author of Sherlock Holmes. She thought I’d like it as it’s all about a scientist that goes off to explore the Amazon and discovers dinosaurs and prehistoric men. The lady at the library said that loads of people all over the country are reading it and everyone in Devon is joining in as well. I had a look and it was first published in 1912!!!! Amazing. Take a look at my Lost World Read page for more info on this.
The DVD’s Mum said we could watch are all films from books.I’ve read some of them before but she says it’s a good way for her to know we’re not watching complete rubbish.
We are having a bash at Eragon, read the book, brilliant. My sister hasn’t seen the film though so she better like it.
Stormbreaker is another one. I’ve read all the Anthony Horowitz books and my sister is in lurve with Alex Rider, well the boy who plays him!
The Bridge to Terabithia is a film Mum picked because she read the book when she was my age. I thought it might be a bit old fashioned, even though Mum’s not that old! But it isn’t. It’s made by the people who made the Narnia films and the book is by Katherine Paterson. Check it out at the library.
My annoying sister, who is peering over my shoulder again……….is going to watch The Story of Tracy Beaker. She’s read the book but the TV series is on DVD so she’ll enjoy that. I’ll stick my head in the Lost World when that ones on
I hope you don’t think that I’m spending all my time avoiding the duster and watching TV. There’s homework and a paper round to fit in as well. Mum said spring is the time for cleaning and she’s quicker without us underfoot.
Oh, and before I dash off remember the Zone is four years old this year.
If you plan on making a birthday card then send it in.
You never know, you might see it in the Zone.
See you soon,
M@X
