The Transport Act 2000 requires local transport authorities (County Councils and Unitary Authorities) to produce and implement a local transport plan in a way which takes account of Government guidance.

The current Devon Local Transport Plan ("Devon on the Move") covers the period from 2001 to 2006 . Work is underway on the Devon Local Transport Plan, covering the period 2006 to 2011. A complete, but provisional Plan, will be published and submitted to Government in July 2005 with the final Plan being published and submitted in March 2006.

The County Council has undertaken an extensive programme of consultation on the provisional Devon Local Transport Plan 2006-2011 to ensure that all interest groups, stakeholders and members of the public have had an opportunity to comment.

The programme has consisted of a number of different approaches including amongst other things; on-street interviews, online questionnaires, a written consultation document sent to all interest groups and focus groups with Town and Parish Clerks.

As the results of the consultation are analysed these pages will be updated allowing you to view the different priorities being raised and see how these will be taken forward to form our objectives and strategies for the 2006-2011 plan.
