Devon Youth Jazz Orchestras

Creative Arts Centre – Knowles Hill School
Exeter Road
Newton Abbot

The aims of DYJO, and the second jazz orchestra DYJO Too are to develop a variety of popular musical skills including improvisation and Big Band techniques in its members. A wide range of musical styles are covered each year – from Swing to Latin and Funk. Many concerts become regular events including the Teignmouth Jazz Festival every November, where the band works with a whole range of visiting musicians.

Musical programmes include: Autumn Leaves (Kosma), All Blues (Miles Davis), Pick up the Pieces (made famous by the Average White Band), and works by Sammy Nestico and Doug Beach

DYJO Too will perform with Dennis Rollins in the first half of his evening concert at Avenue Church.
