Your Travel to Work

Business led travel groups in Devon

There are several area wide travel groups across the County, who meet regularly to share ideas, assist with travel planning measures and set up business events (such as Sustainable Travel information stands, Dr. Bike clinics and route planning services).

If you would be interested in setting up a group for your area, please contact us for advice and assistance.

  • Exeter Sustainable Travel group

Led by the University of Exeter, this group was formed in May 2011 to act as one voice for organisations in Exeter keen to support and encourage more sustainable travel, in line with Devon’s LSTF bid. This group has a strategic role in working with businesses across the city to help Devon County Council steer future sustainable transport investments.

  • Sowton Industrial Estate, Exeter

This business led travel group was originally established in 2006, in association with the Sowton Forum and Devon County Council. The group represents businesses across Sowton Industrial Estate and Exeter Business Park.

  • Pynes Hill Business Park, Exeter

Pynes Hill Travel (PHiT) was set up in March 2009 with assistance from the Highways Agency and Devon County Council, and is led by several key organisations on the estate who are keen to tackle congestion issues on the estate and improve access to sustainable travel for employees.

  • Exeter Cycle Forum

The Exeter Cycle Forum meets every 2 months to discuss cycling issues in Exeter with representatives from Devon County Council, Exeter City Council, Sustrans, Cyclist Touring Club, local businesses & everyday, normal cyclists!

The aims of the forum is to aid communication on cycling issues between various bodies, to make suggestions on the future of cycling in and around Exeter and comment on specific proposals being considered by the Planning and Highway Authorities.

The Forum acts as a unifying forum for discussion and action on issues relating to traffic and transport in Totnes and the surrounding area.

These groups all meet every 2-3 months and are all free to join. To find out more, including the date of the next meeting to see minutes from previous meetings, please email traveltowork@devon.gov.uk.
