TravelWise Conference

The Devon Schools TravelWise Conference 2008

"All of us who came to Exeter last week thought it was a great day The venue was ideal and gave the children a real sense of importance.....like the whole process was being valued by Devon. This was underlined for me by having Phil Norrey there. So, all in all, a very worthwhile and enjoyable day that should keep young people enthusiastic and motivated. Do it again please!"

The 2008 Conference was held at Exeter University in the Peter Chalk Centre.  Forty four schools attended with around two hundred and fifty children.  The conference was opened by Dr Phil Norrey , Chief Executive of Devon County Council  Workshops focussed on sustainable transport issues and practice.  During  lunch there was  a demonstration of trials bike riding by international star, Andrei Burton.  The TravelWise Awards were presented in the afternoon by Councillor Phil Clark

If you were not able to attend have a look at the photos and comments from schools to give yourself an idea of the event, the theme of which was:

Our Planet Our Future

"I attended two really useful workshops and am already putting some of the ideas into practice."

"Oh about the Conference - the children really enjoyed it! "

"Congratulations on a great conference. The children who came with me thought it was fantastic and have asked if they can come again next year."
