Strategic Environmental Assessment
The Strategic Environmental Assessment of the Devon Local Transport Plan 2006-11
The Devon Local Transport Plan 2006-2011 has been identified as a plan that is subject to the requirements of European Directive 2001/42/EC “on the assessment of the effects of certain plans and programmes on the environment”, known as the Strategic Environmental Assessment or SEA Directive.
Accordingly, a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) is being carried out in association with the Devon Local Transport Plan 2006-11 development process. The aims of the SEA are to:
- Maximise environmental and sustainability value into the plan
- Inform and influence the plan-making process
The Strategic Environmental Assessment for the Devon Local Transport Plan 2006-11 has been developed through a number of interlinked stages. Reflecting these, the following two documents have so far been released for consultation:

Further to the receipt of consultation on the Environmental Report, the SEA Statement was released in March 2006:
This will be followed by the initiation of a monitoring programme, providing an ongoing assessment of the progress of the Devon Local Transport Plan in relation to the environment and sustainability:
