Hospice care
Hospices provide care specifically for terminally ill people and give support to their carers both in the hospice and at home.
Devon County Council does not provide hospice care. However, there are a number of hospices based in Devon which provide support to terminally ill adults and their families. Admission is arranged through your doctor or hospital consultant:
- Hospiscare, Exeter, Tel. 01392 688000
- St Luke's Hospice, Plymouth, Tel. 01752 401172
- North Devon Hospice, Barnstaple, Tel. 01271 344248
- Rowcroft, Torbay & South Devon Hospice, Torquay, Tel. 01803 210800
Hospices offer home support and often it's in combination with Macmillan Nursing.
Some other organisations in Devon specialise in home support to terminally ill people, for example the Marie Curie Cancer Care have a community palliative care service team and a day therapy unit in Tiverton, Tel. 01884 703500.
Some private nursing and rest homes also specialise in the care of terminally ill people.
