Traveller Education

Devon Consortium Traveller Education Service is funded by the Local Authorities in Devon, Plymouth and Torbay to raise the attainment of Traveller pupils 0-19 (the main focus of the work being for 5-16 year old pupils) by increasing capacity within Schools, families and other services. The ultimate aim of the service is to ensure that Gypsy and Traveller young people and their families have unhindered access to universal services.

Devon Consortium Traveller Education Service works to

  • Support colleagues in school who are striving to fully include Traveller children in the work of the National Strategies, the curriculum and the wider life of their schools.
  • Ensure that schools have access to resources that will enable them to include Traveller perspective in the curriculum
  • Undertake outreach work to support the inclusion of the most vulnerable children and their families

It supports -

  • Strategic work within the LEA's to ensure Gypsy and Traveller pupils have unhindered access to universal services
