Education Consultations & Public Notices
An opportunity for the public, parents, schools and governors to participate in the development and vision for learning in Devon.
Any Consultations and Public Notices on changes to the organisation of schools e.g. change of age range, addition of a special needs unit etc. can now be accessed on the corporate consultation website at: http://www.consultationfinder.com/devon/
As at May 2007 the latest information on the proposed Secondary School at Sherford is that following the consultation in autumn 2006 the results of the Sherford Examination are awaited. This will determine which site has been selected.
Under the Education and Inspection Act 2006 the requirement to have a School Organisation Committee (SOC) will cease to have effect with effect from 25 May 2007. Decisions made by SOC can be made available by contacting Strategic Planning (School Organisation Team) tel. 01392 382778 or email: karen.crockwell@devon.gov.uk
In future the Local Authority will be responsible for determining the outcome of school organisation proposals. Local diocesan bodies, the Learning & Skills Council (LSC) and governors of voluntary and foundation schools will have powers to refer proposals to the adjudicator in a wide range of circumstances.
Further information on decision makers guidance is available on the DfES website at: www.dfes.gov.uk/schoolorg
