Planning Applications for Minerals and Waste Development, and the County Council's Own Development

How to make a Planning Application for a Waste Management Development

As Minerals and Waste Planning Authority, Devon County Council is responsible for determining all planning applications for waste related development. For all other types of development you should go to the District, Borough, City or Unitary Authority or, where appropriate, to Dartmoor or Exmoor National Park Authority.

Before making a planning application, applicants are strongly recommended to carry out a pre-application discussion with an Officer of the County Council. For further details, please follow the links below:

From 6 April 2008, all new planning applications for waste management facilities must be made using the 1APP Standard Application Form.

To submit a planning application to the County Council for a waste related development, you may either:

  • Submit an Online Planning Application for a Waste Development to the Planning Portal (when you make an online planning application you will be asked to submit additional information. This may either be attached to your electronic application or supplied separately by post. Should you require any advice regarding the information required please contact one of our Planning Officers via the address and telephone number shown at the bottom of this page), or
  • Download a planning application form, or
  • Contact the County Council at the address and telephone number shown at the bottom of the page and ask for the relevant form to be sent to you.
