Devon Structure Plan

Structure Plan 2001 to 2016

Timetable (updated January 2005)

Devon Structure Plan 2001 to 2016 Explanatory Memorandum and Written Statement (adopted October 2004) contains the adopted policies and proposals together explanatory text (published January 2005).

These policies were expected to expire on the 8 October 2007.  However in September 2007 the Secretary of State issued a Direction (121KB - pdf help)  to save the policies, specified in the Schedule of the Direction (126KB - pdf help), for an extended period of time and a Second Direction (173KB - pdf help) (to correct an error in the 'Schedule of the Direction'). These save all the policies in the Plan.  

A letter from the Government Office South West (147KB - pdf help) to the South West Regional Assembly sets out further information about the saved the policies. In due course the policies will be superceded by policies in Regional Spatial Strategy (due for adoption in mid 2008) and/or Local Development Documents (when they are adopted).

(On the 8 October 2004, when the the First Secretary of State lifted his direction delaying the adoption of the Structure Plan,  Devon County Council, Plymouth City Council, Torbay Council and Dartmoor National Park Authority adopted the Structure Plan policies and proposals).
