North Devon AONB and Biosphere Service

The North Devon AONB and Biosphere Service (NDABS) is a partnership organisation hosted by Devon County Council working for the rural environment in northern Devon. We were established in 1998 after the re-structuring of various countryside projects working in the northern Devon area and all of our work is within North Devon's Biosphere Reserve. To find out more about what we do, please have a look at our service leaflet (157KB - pdf help).

Our mission is:

“To work with the community to provide a high quality service in north Devon area, to secure a sustainable future & safeguard the special character of the area.”

The Service has four main work areas

Coordination of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve

Coordination and management of the North Devon Coast Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB)

Management of the Tarka Trail cycle section between Braunton and Meeth - habitat management, interpretation, signage on the Trail, art works etc. NOT the surface or major structures.

Management of the South West Coast Path
