Landscape


Devon’s Landscape has long been recognised as one of the county’s most important assets. It is not only vital to local distinctiveness and to our sense of place but is also a major attraction to visitors. The County Council is committed to conserving and enhancing the landscape to ensure that it can be enjoyed for generations to come. To help us achieve this, a detailed Landscape Character Assessment of Devon has been underway since 2005.

The Landscape Character Assessment work is complimented by an earlier Historic Landscape Characterisation project completed in 2005, which can be viewed on the Historic Environment webpage’s or by following the link below.
