Garden Waste and Cardboard
Small businesses are able to bring recyclable green waste and cardboard to certain Devon County Council Recycling Centres, which may save on your company's time and costs in transporting such material to a more distant landfill site. Recycling these wastes instead of disposing of them will help protect Devon's environment, and also saves energy and reduces pollution.
The following sites are currently participating in the scheme:
| Knowle Hill, Salterton Road, Exmouth | Green Waste | Card |
| Sutton Barton, Offwell, Honiton | Green Waste | Card |
| Exeter Transfer Station Marsh Barton, Exeter | Green Waste | |
| Exton Road, Marsh Barton, Exeter | Card | |
| Punchbowl, Yeoford Road, Crediton | Green Waste | Card |
| Seven Brethren, Barnstaple | Green Waste | Card |
| Torr Quarry, Nr Kingsbridge | Green Waste | Card |
| Brunel Road, Newton Abbot | Green Waste | Card |
| Deep Moor, High Bullen, Nr Torrington | Green Waste | Card |
| Anvil Corner, Hollacombe, Nr Holsworthy | Green Waste | Card |
| Crowndale, Crowndale Road, Tavistock | Green Waste | Card |
| Bideford, Clovelly Road, Bideford | Green Waste | Card |
Even though the garden waste is to be composted, the scheme is run at a cost to the Council which has to be passed on to trade depositors. The charges are the minimum that can be applied and less than the disposal rate at a landfill site. Charges apply to the size of vehicle used and not the quantity of waste deposited.
Charges are as follows:
| Vehicle Size (carrying capacity) |
Number of tickets required | Charge: Green Waste (per vehicle deposit) |
Charge: Cardboard (per vehicle deposit) |
| Up to 500kg | 1 | £29.38 | £14.10 |
| 500kg to 1 tonne | 2 | £58.76 | £28.20 |
| 1 tonne to 2 tonnes | 3 | £88.14 | £42.30 |
