Press Releases
From Adrian Lane, Exeter 383262, November 24, 2008
DEVON County Council's Cycle Exeter team will be in Exeter city centre on Thursday to encourage people to continue cycling during the winter.
The team will be in Bedford Square in Princesshay between 11am and 6pm on Thursday (27 November) and again at the same time on Thursday 4 December, to offer advice on how to make the most of cycling over the winter months and about making yourself bright and visible.
They will also be offering the chance to win a bicycle, donated by Sidwell Cycles, by entering a cycling quiz.
Councillor Margaret Rogers, Devon County Council Executive Member for Environment, said: "Just because the winter is drawing in, doesn't mean its time to put away your bicycle for a few months. The conditions may be colder and the evenings draw in earlier, but whatever time of year it is, cycling offers the same benefits to your health, the environment and saves you money. With the right equipment you can be safe and be seen during the darker nights and cycling can be enjoyable all year round."
The Cycle Exeter team will also be handing out lots of freebies to make cyclists more visible during the evenings, including rucksack tags, slap bands and a lucky dip to win other prizes
