Title:The Big Friendly Read - Summer Reading Challenge
Date:Saturday 16 July - Saturday 10 September
Time: Usual library opening hours
Description: Come and celebrate the 100th anniversary of Roald Dahl! Join the Big Friendly Read and win collector cards. Everyone who finishes will be entered into a prize draw, and be invited to a party to receive a medal and certificate.
Audience:The Summer Reading Challenge gets three quarters of a million children into libraries nationwide to keep up their reading skills during the long holidays .
Cost:Free
Bookings: You can join any time from Saturday 16th July onwards.
 
Title: Summer Writing Challenge
Date:Saturday 16 July - Saturday 10 September
Time: Throughout the summer
Description: New for this summer! Let your imagination run wild and write anything you like on the theme of 'A Revolting Rhyme' (no more than one side of A4 paper please).
Audience:Prizes in two age categories (7-9 and 10-13).
Cost:Free
Bookings: Just hand in your entry, any time before the 10th September.

Title:The Big Friendly Read - Roald Dahl 100 Celebration
Date:Tuesday 9 August
Time: 15:00-16:30
Description: Quizzes, poems, Giant Peach collage, ridiculous fruit and veg characters, Charlie's double chocolate birthday cake and lots more!
Audience:Open to all children taking part in The Big Friendly Read.
Cost:Free
Bookings: Please book a place by picking up a numbered gold coloured ticket from the library.

Title:The Big Friendly Read - Make a Tortoise Hat!
Date:Tuesday 23 August
Time: 10:30-12:00
Description: Make and decorate a fabulous tortoise hat.
Audience:Open to all children taking part in the Big Friendly Read

Title:The Big Friendly Read - Finishers' Party
Date:Saturday 10 September
Time: 14:00
Description: Presentation of medals and certificates on completion of The Big Friendly Read. Games, cake and Prize Draw
Audience:Open to all children who have completed The Big Friendly Read
Cost:Free
Bookings: When you finish the Challenge let us know if you would like to come to the party.
 
Title: Colouring Club
Date:Each Tuesday afternoon
Time: 14:00-16:00
Description: Come and join us for coffee and colouring. Materials supplied, or bring your own.
Audience:Colouring is not just for children!
Cost:Free, but suggested donation of 50p towards refreshments and materials.
Bookings: Just pop in.
 
Title: Fun and Games in the Library!
Date:Every Friday
Time: 14:00-16:00
Description: Meet friends or make new ones, have a cuppa and play board games, dominoes,cards etc
Audience:Everyone welcome
Cost:Free, refreshments provided

Title: Sing a Song
Date:The last Thursday of each month
Time: 14:00-15:30
Description: Sing old favourites. Make new friends. Stimulate the brain. Jog the memory.
Audience:Not a choir, so there's no need to be an expert singer!

Bookings: No need to book, but please phone the library to check dates (in case of unavoidable changes)

Title: IT and Coffee
Date:2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month
Time: 14:00-16:00
Description: An informal, social get together to help you with your laptop, phone, camera etc over tea and coffee. Bring your troublesome gadget along and get support from our trained volunteers.
Audience:A warm welcome to anyone who is struggling with modern technology

Title: The Library Stitchers
Date:Fortnightly on a Tuesday
Time: 18:00-20:00
Description: A friendly, sociable group for anyone interested in quilting, knitting, cross stitch etc. Drop by, bring a project and join in!

Cost:Free. Small charge for refreshments
Bookings: No need to book, just come along.

Description: South Hams CVS is holding drop-in sessions, to promote local volunteering opportunities and to offer support and advice to community groups.

Title: Saltstone's Monthly Bazaar
Date:The third Thursday of each month, beginning 15 January
Time: 10:00-12:30
Description: Clothes, dvds, cds, jewellery, books, bric-a-brac etc. All proceeds help Saltstone continue to support local people.
Audience:A social morning. Sit and chat or play board games. Childrens corner.
Cost:Tea/coffee and home-made cake 1

Title: Lego Club
Date:Every Monday
Time: 16:00-17:00
Description: Come and get creative with our shiny new lego. Make whatever you like, or be inspired by a book.
Audience:Children under 8 to be accompanied by an adult please.
Cost:Free, Lego and refreshments supplied (although donations of lego would be welcome!).
Bookings: Just come along - bring your friends.

Title: Storytime
Date:Every Wednesday
Time: 10:30-11:00
Description: Bring your little ones to the library and listen to stories together.
Audience:For toddlers under 5 years old

Title: Bounce and Rhyme
Date:Every Friday during term time
Time: 11:00-11:30
Description: Babies, toddlers and their carers are welcome to come and enjoy nursery rhymes and action songs together and perhaps learn some new ones! Come along and collect a free nursery rhyme card and borrow a book.
Audience:Under 5s (with parents/carers)
Cost:Free
Bookings: Just come along and join in!
 
Title: Book Track
Date:Any day the library is open.
Time: Usual opening hours.
Description: It's not a race, it's not a test. Simply choose the books you like and when you have read them, chat to your local librarian about them, up to 4 books at a time. You are awarded a badge when you have read 10, 25, 50 and 75 books plus stickers at 40, 50 and 90 books. When you have finished your reading trail of 100 books you will get a special certificate and a gold badge!
Audience:Ages 6+
Cost:Free
Bookings: No need to book, just let staff know that you want to talk about your books.
 
Title: Bookstart Bear Club
Date:Whenever the library is open.
Time: Usual opening hours.
Description: Join the fun at your local library. Collect a paw print stamp each time you visit, collect 6 stamps to receive a certificate, there are 10 certificates to collect.
Audience:Under fives
Cost:Free
Bookings: Just call into the library to collect your bear club membership pack
