Influenza Pandemic – an outline guide
For a number of years emergency planners had been concerned that a major pandemic was overdue. The expectation had been that avian flu from Indonesia would be the likely cause, but in April 2009 it was a strain of swine flu starting in Mexico that caused the World Health Organization to declare a worldwide pandemic following a significant number of outbreaks in countries around the world.
