What is it?

Twitter is a free to use social networking service which allows friends, family, co-workers and organisations to send announcements and updates through short 140 character messages.

You can create your own account for free on the twitter website.

How are Devon County Council using twitter?

We currently have five types of messages updating our Twitter feed. These are:

  • News - latest press releases
  • Safety alerts - product recalls (including food, clothing, toys, electrical goods)
  • Planning applications
  • Latest Webcasts - latest council meetings
  • General announcements - current Devon County Council campaigns
