Strategic Intelligence
The Strategic Intelligence team work to find the best available intelligence to support Devon County Council by consulting Devon’s people, using our own data, and by making use of national statistics. Making sure the county council’s information is kept safe, shared with our partners and the public whenever possible and presented in the most useful and engaging ways.
The team has five main areas of work - Information Governance, Information Management, Corporate Consultation, Data mapping (GIS) & Statistics and Understanding Devon Communities

The council's aim of being open and accountable should be balanced with the need to protect personal data. The Data Protection Act, Freedom of Information Act and the Environmental Information Regulations ensure we meet our obligations to allow appropriate access to Devon’s data. We also develop and maintain legal accountability with records management and develop protocols for information sharing and security.
Valuing information as an asset requires that we have a clear picture of what information the council holds, and how to find it. We provide guidance and advice on managing information effectively to maximise the value and minimise the risks.
Statistics on key themes such as community safety, economic activity; housing and population that support the priorities in the Strategic Plan are collated and published on our Devon Facts and Figures web. Whether you are looking for information about an area or a specific piece of information, we can data covering a wide range of subjects and display them in a number of ways, such as maps or chart, to show information more clearly.
