Introduction

Private Fostering is essentially an arrangement to care for a child under the age of 16 years (or 18 years if the child has a disability) between the parent of the child and someone who is not a close relative or who holds parental responsibility, where the arrangement is intended to last more than 27 days.  This policy sets out the details of the duties and responsibilities of the local authority in respect of private fostering situations.
