Stover Country Park contains over 114 acres of woodland, heathland, grassland, lake and marsh and a substantial variety of wildlife. The Nature Interpretation Centre, opened in 2000 is situated near the entrance of the park and consists of a visitor centre, classroom, rangers' office and public toilets. Additional recreation resources include interpretation boards, aeriel walkway, a bird hide, a car park and picnic areas. There is also a wealth of historical interest.

This site provides all the information you need to know before visiting with an educational or local interest group, or a private trip. It is updated monthly - wildlife and events news are published in the newsletter.

Stover celebrates another achievement in the Access & Inclusivity Award category at this year’s South West Tourism Excellence Awards

Cllr Roger Croad, Devon County Council’s Cabinet Member responsible for the authority’s Country Parks, said:

“This award is also a fitting tribute to the enthusiasm and determination of our team of Rangers and volunteers, whose passion and commitment ensures everyone who visits the park has an enjoyable and educational trip."

Stover shortlisted forContribution to Wildlife Award at the Western Morning News Countryside Awards 2014. Western Morning News Editor Bill Martin explained "Stover Country Park is a great example of what can be achieved in the rural Westcountry. This sets the bar high and being short-listed is well deserved recognition of high standards and consistant achievement."

Stover has won a Silver in the Access and Inclusitivity category at the Visit Devon Tourism Awards 2014. We were also invited to collect the Gold Award in partnership with the winners, Countryside Mobility who administer the Tramper Scheme here at the Park.

Stover has also been shortlisted as a finalist in the Access and Inclusitivity category in the South West Tourism Excellence Awards 2014 - 2015.  After the South West Awards Panel assessed a record 425 entries, 275 visits and 20 hours of panel meetings, 93 Finalists and 11 Highly Commended entries have been announced in this year’s South West Tourism Excellence Awards. 89 of the Finalists will also represent ‘Team South West’ in the national VisitEngland awards in May".

Chair of the South West Awards Panel, Alistair Handyside, said: “This year’s South West award winners represent the very best of the region in all its glory, and we wish them all the very best at the Grand Pier in Weston-super-Mare on 12th February.”

The Park has also been awarded the Green Flag by the Civic Trust for the 11th consecutive year running. Many thanks to all Stover’s volunteers who help maintain the Park at such a high standard.

  • The Countryside Mobility Scheme is running at Stover Country park. The scheme aims to improve access to the countryside for people with limited mobility living in and visiting the South West region. To find out more click the link above.
  • Explore Devon - A new website has just been launched to help give you ideas for things to do and places to go to be more naturally active. Not only does it have details of multi-use routes for safe and easy walking or cycling and a wide variety of walking routes from accessible trails suitable for families with young children and pushchairs or the elderly and those who use wheelchairs routes, but it also details specific sites and areas to visit where you can see some of the glorious Devon wildlife or explore the geology.
