This particular edition of Twelve Sermons has a handwritten note inside the front cover by well-known Manx clergyman, scholar, novelist and playwright, John Quine:
This book came from Whitehaven, about 1850, with a large amount of others, as residue of the estate of M. Craine, coming to Mr Sylvester Callister of Ballacraine as next of kin – representing the family of Craine of Ballacraine, the representatives of which had in two generations in Whitehaven, died out, the family thereafter represented by Mr Sylvester Callister. This book came into my hands Jan 1 1904 – as grandson of Mr Callister.
John Quine, Vicar of Lonan [Isle of Man]
