Professional Capabilities Framework
The Professional Capabilities Framework (PCF) was developed by the Social Work Reform Board (SWRB). It serves as a backdrop to both initial social work education, and continuing professional development after qualification. If you are a social worker you need to familiarise yourself with the framework. For more information visit The College of Social Work
Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC)
All registered Social Workers in England must renew their HCPC registration. For more information visit HCPC.
The Professional Capabilities Framework (PCF) describes the capabilities required of social workers at all stages of their career. The Standards of Proficiency, which are set by the HCPC, are what a social worker must know, understand and be able to do when they start practising for the first time.
