Antivirus
What's the benefit?ScoMIS negotiate the bulk purchase of antivirus software licences, enabling favourable discounts to be passed on to schools. This provides schools with a world leading product suite, affording an effective level of protection against viruses and other threats. As schools no longer have an automatic entitlement to McAfee antivirus licences, they must be renewed every financial year. This also applies to licences purchased with a new PC, as the licence will expire at the end of the financial year in which it was purchased. What is includedThe licences allow use of the entire 'McAfee Total Protection for Endpoint' product suite, but as we have endeavoured to keep licence costs as low as possible, support is only provided for the following:

Sufficient licences are required for each device within the school; curriculum, administration, desktops, laptops and servers. ScoMIS recommend that you keep an inventory of all equipment to ensure that you hold the correct number of licences that are required.
How much does it cost?
Current costs available to schools are as follows:
McAfee Enterprise school client annual license - £2.64 (per workstation/server)
This licence covers the exisiting use of the software currently installed on school admin and curriculum workstations, laptops and servers. New devices will need extra licences purchasing.
Please be aware that ScoMIS have only been allocated a fixed number of McAfee school client licences available at this cost. It is anticipated that this will be sufficient to satisfy the requirements of schools opting into the scheme but it is recommended that schools complete the online order form as soon as possible to take advantage of the special offer price.
McAfee home client annual license - £1.21 (per workstation)
This licence covers the existing use of the McAfee VirusScan Home Edition product on staff members' home machines - new devices will need extra licences purchasing.
How to order
To order McAfee licences, please complete the web form found under the "more information" heading.
On completing the form, your school will be emailed an order acknowledgement. It will also include details of your entitlement to software licences and should be printed and kept somewhere safe for your own records and for audit purposes. A separate invoice will follow.
Please note that you do not need to raise a purchase order to complete the form and all orders for 2009-2010 will be invoiced in the new financial year.
