Agriculture is still a dominant sector in Devon, with a workforce of approximately 25,000 and in the region of 35,000 registered farm holdings of which 21,000 are what we would call active. A sustainable and viable agricultural sector is essential for the preservation of the landscape, as well as rural communities and associated services.

Duties for the Farming Standards Team within Devon County Council’s Trading Standards Service include·providing advice and assistance to Devon Farming Industry in relation to animal health, welfare, disease control and feed & food hygiene at primary production.
