A meeting of the East Devon Highways and Traffic Orders Committee will be held on the above date at 2.15 p.m. at the Council Offices, Knowle, Sidmouth to consider the following matters.

1. Minutes of the meeting held on 19 September 2005, attached (Page 4).

2. Items Requiring Urgent Attention

Items which in the opinion of the Chairman should be considered at the meeting as a matter of urgency.

3. Sallicombe Farm, Farway

Local Service Officer (Eastern) to report.

4. Rydon Lane, Woodbury Sewage Works

A site meeting was held on 26 September 2005 to discuss damage to the unsurfaced public highway leading from Rydon Farm to Woodbury sewage treatment works during recent construction works, and the routing of vehicles routinely serving the treatment works. The meeting was attended by the Chairman and Vice Chairman of this Committee, the local County Councillor, two representatives of Woodbury Parish Council and Mr. Howourth, Project Leader South West Water.

As a result of the meeting, South West Water have agreed to undertake repairs to the highway leading from Rydon Farm to the treatment works, including laying stone on the highway surface in the areas of greatest subsidence, and installing two (to be confirmed) lengths of sheet piling where the bank of the adjacent stream has collapsed.

Subject to the County Council undertaking works to marginally widen the highway at the ford to the east of the treatment works, South West Water have agreed to route all large vehicles accessing the treatment works along the highway from Venmore Farm, and cease to use the route from Rydon Farm.

Local Service Officer (Eastern) to report on progress with the repair and widening works.
