Proceeding through the valley, which in its centre is carpeted with an emerald and elastic turf, the visitor will see fronting him the CASTLE ROCK, that seems to guard the western extremity of this valley. From the summit of the Castle Rock there is the grandest view of the valley and of the sea, a thousand feet below the spectator, looking from the immense height like a calm and peaceful lake, the ascending murmur of the waves alone proclaiming it the ever-moving sea.
