Handbook to the town and church of Sidmouth; with full details of the Queen's window, and all other objects of interest. Sidmouth: Richard Lethaby, 1867. p. 13. The Esplanade is nearly one-third of a mile in length; or, to be exact, it measures 1841 feet. Few watering-places can boast of one so long, so well made, and commanding such fine views of the coast. It was constructed in 1837-8. [Text may be taken from a different source or edition than that listed as the source by Somers Cocks.] |
