BATHING

is, of course, the principal amusement which obtains here - particularly in the summer months. […] There are four Ladies' Bathing Places -

Between Livermead Cliff and the west side of Corbyn's Head;
From the north-east side of Corbyn's Head to the Old Toll House;
Between the Public Baths and the Imperial Hotel; and
At Meadfoot.

And there are four Gentlemen's Bathing Places -

From the south side of Corbyn's Head to the Old Toll House;
At Livermead, near the west side of Corbyn's Head;
At Peaked Tor, between the Imperial Hotel and Land's End; and
at Meadfoot.

At most of these places, bathing machines are stationed, the proprietors of which are required by the bye-laws to supply their customers with proper bathing costume and two towels each. The fees chargeable for their use are sixpence for the first half-hour, and a like sum for every additional quarter of an hour, with a considerable reduction for children who accompany "an adult person," double fees being chargeable when the bather requires the exclusive services of an attendant.
