First of all see what resources you might already have to hand:
- Community history. Do you have any photographs, news cuttings, old guidebooks available? Do any friends or neighbours have material?
- House history. Do you have access to your deeds?
- Family history. Have you asked members of your family what birth or marriage certificates, family photographs and other documents they may have?
