Charges for photocopying and for digital copies of local studies material
Photocopies (orders by post or e-mail) To protect original items, local studies staff will not normally undertake orders in excess of ten exposures. Copying costs are lower for self-service copying in libraries.
Digital resources Archival master TIF images are normally produced as raw 300dpi colour files with no editing which might enhance the original. The Library's JPG images may have been enhanced for web presentation. The cost of new scanning represents the work involved in locating, scanning, archiving and documenting the resource. Please note that most images on the Devon website may be freely downloaded and used for private or educational purposes. In addition the use of hand-held digital cameras may be permitted in local studies collections to produce digital copies for private study or educational purposes. You will normally be required to sign a declaration form and the use of flash, tripods or stands is not permitted where this could damage the original or disturb other library users.
Prints
The original images are resized onto A4 160 gsm paper and posted in a strengthened envelope. Some enhancement may be undertaken, but normally images will be taken direct from the archival master TIF images which are normally produced as raw 300dpi colour files.
