Search the web site
Map searches are limited to records for separate maps only. They do not normally include maps within larger works and atlases, although some works have been indexed in this way for special projects.
There are also separate search pages for
authors and titles,
places,
subjects,
named persons, families or organisations and
images as well as an
advanced search option.
Entering terms into more than one box will cut down the number of items you find. It is poss* to truncate terms by using an asterisk.
Additional general advice on searching.
Place coverage often includes wider area. E.g. Devon, Exeter, Dartmoor
Cartographers can be personal or corporate. E.g. Christopher Saxton, Ordnance Survey, Goad
Publisher also includes place of publication. E.g. London, Carey, Ordnance Survey
For dates input the year, e.g. 1765. Date ranging is not possible with this search
