What can I borrow?

Most books and audiobooks may be borrowed for 21 days, and can be renewed.

You can borrow 12 books and 4 recorded sound items and 4 DVDs - staff will be happy to explain your entitlement when you join.

Music and video items are hired on a weekly basis. Audiobooks are hired for three weeks.

You can return items to any library, except for items borrowed from mobile libraries which need to be returned to the mobile from which they were borrowed.

Please help us to keep your record correct by waiting to see your returned items checked in.

In person - at any Devon library
By phoning
-  0845 155 1001
Here - simply follow the link and select 'Renew Online' -
Library Catalogue

If you borrow from Chulmleigh or Clyst Vale, please phone the library to renew your books.

After 3 telephone or web renewals, you will need to take your books back to the library, but if no-one else is waiting for them, they can then be re-issued to you.

What happens if I keep items after the date due back?

Returning or renewing your books promptly will help us and save you cost and inconvenience. If you do keep your books beyond the date due for return, and do not renew them, you will have to pay a weekly charge up to a maximum of 6 weeks.

How can I find out what is in stock in Devon?

Use the Library Catalogue to search by author, title or keyword - libraries have computers so you can also do this while visiting the library, or ask a member of staff if you can't find what you're looking for.

How can I reserve something?

If your local library or mobile library does not have what you want, you can reserve titles for a small fee. We will do our best to obtain the title for you and let you know when it is available. You can do this in person at your local library, online from the Library Catalogue., or by phoning our Customer Service Centre on 0845 155 1001.
