Join

You can join the library at any age and membership is free.

You can start using the library as soon as you have shown official proof of your current name and address.

Please ask staff for help if:

  • You have joined before and need to check if your membership has lapsed for any reason
  • You want to know more about any specific entitlements
  • You want to know about temporary membership
  • You want to use the library as a visitor

Information about joining and using library computers is available in 28 languages.

To find your nearest library please select Your Local Library. This will give you information about location, opening hours and the services and facilities they provided.

To speed up the joining process and to enable you to place reservations straight away, you can now register your details online.  Register today then all you will need to do is take along proof of your name and address to your local library and sign a membership form.

If you are under 16 your parent, guardian or legal carer must come with you when you collect your ticket as he/she will need to sign the form and show official proof of their name and address.
