The Country Mile Project

Foreign Driver Training

Rural roads banner

Devon has the largest rural road network of any highway authority in England with 12,800km of County roads in addition to its national routes. It has an ambitious target to reduce road deaths and serious injuries by 55% by 2010 and the evidence points to the need to tackle problems specific to rural roads, especially those A and B roads with a national speed limit.

Thanks to funding from the Department for Transport, Devon County Council is developing new ways to improve road safety on its rural roads and The Country Mile Project is now providing a number free road safety training days to non UK nationals from  the EU who hold a full driving licence where help and advice on rural motoring issues as well as on-road training with an Approved Driving Instructor is being offered.
