Road Safety Performance Information

Devon Casualty Trend

General Performance

For the latest annual collision data for Great Britain please see the DfT (Department for Transport) 'Road Casualties Great Britain' Annual Report.

The 'Road Casualties Great Britain' Annual Report includes the most used Contributory Factors for Britain's collisions.  Contributory factors in a road accident indicate why the accident occurred and give clues about how it may have been prevented. They are largely subjective and depend on the skill and experience of the investigating officer. The data relating to Devon's road collision contributory factors can be found within the collision data downloads pages.

National Indicator on Child Casulties

Child Casualties

This data is used for a national indicator coded 'NI48' which relates to the number of children killed or seriously injured. Figures are based on a three year rolling average. ‘Children’ are defined as less than 16 years of age at date of accident. For further definitions, including what injuries are defined as 'Serious’ please refer to the DfT website.

Devon County Council's collision and casualty data has been provided by Devon and Cornwall Police, and only includes the collisions that have been reported to and recorded by the Police and not those where details were exchanged and Police not informed. Plymouth and Torbay are excluded from this data as they form unitary authorities.
