Major Transport Schemes

Alphington Park and Ride

Alphington Road is the busiest of Exeter’s radial routes with an average daily flow of nearly 30,000 vehicles resulting in severe congestion. The new homes and jobs proposed for Exeter are good news for the local economy, but accommodating this growth and ensuring that we have a transport system to cope with higher levels of traffic will be a challenge. There is a need to transport more people into the city centre using sustainable travel options including Park & Ride.

A new Park & Ride site for the west of Exeter is being proposed by Devon County Council. The planning application for this site will be submitted in January so prior to this we are offering the public an opportunity to view the proposals. They will be exhibited at West Exe Technology College between 2pm and 8.30pm on Friday 24 September. For those that are unable to attend the exhibition, the display will also be available for viewing at West Exe Technology College on Monday 27 September from 9am until 4pm, and in the PDF online here. image - PDF icon (4.87MB - pdf help)

Feedback from the exhibition will be welcomed, however, those wishing to give formal notification of support or objection to the planning application should note that this opportunity will be available once the application has been made and planning notices published. The application is expected to be discussed by the County Council's Development Management Committee in January next year.
