Stop Line Way
World War II
The project was named after the World War II stop line, which was the British line of defence against a Nazi invasion, and along the line, there are remains of this stop line. These include pill boxes, anti tank traps and gun emplacements.
There are examples of national significance along the route. The walking and cycle path largely follows the old stop line. Many of these are not open for public access and so the new route will allow the public to gain an understanding of our wartime heritage.
