Something for everyone

Devon Drivers’ Centre can meet many of your needs as a trailer or caravan tower. We offer practical training to all towers whether novice or experienced.
If you want to concentrate on your reversing / manoeuvring skills, then one of our short courses (one hour, or one and a half hours) may suit. Taking place on our practice road circuit, we can help you to reverse in a straight line as well as round corners. Having completed your session, you are more than welcome to remain on the road circuit to put into further practice what you have been taught.
If you are a complete novice, we can offer training that includes both reversing and on-road training. The course (recommended minimum 3 hours) consists of at least one hour devoted to manoeuvring, with the remainder concentrating on dealing with towing on various types of road. You will also be shown how to hitch and unhitch safely and correctly.
For drivers who passed their basic driving test after January 1997, wishing to tow a trailer with a maximum authorised mass (MAM) of more than 750 kg., we can offer a six-hour course of familiarisation training in preparation for the driving licence category B+E driving test. Subjects covered will include hitching and unhitching, the reversing exercise, the controlled stop exercise and on-road practice.
We can carry out training using our car and trailer or, if preferred, your own vehicle and trailer. Our trailer can also be used with your vehicle for any training that takes place exclusively on the practice road circuit.
You will need to bring along your driving licence.
More information about the B+E driving test may be found at the Driving Standards Agency's website.
