Zone 2
For cyclists who have achieved a good standard of cycling knowledge and skills, off the road and feel ready to start on quiet roads. if you do not feel confident to start on the road, see Zone 1.
Now you have developed confidence, good observation and bicycle handling skills, you may wish to travel on quiet roads. This is when you will become part of the traffic and must follow all traffic rules, traffic signs and signals. You will also need to be considerate towards other road users including walkers, young children, the elderly and people with disabilities.
Zone 2 has been divided into 2 sections and will show you how to:
- Start riding on the road safely
- Ride on busier roads (it is recommended that this section is supervised by experienced cyclists)
