It is helpful if you let us know about street lights or illuminated traffic signs that are not working by telephoning our Customer Service Centre on 0845 155 1004, (8am - 8pm Mon Fri and 9am - 1pm on Saturdays, this is a local rate number) or our contractors local rate number 08705 561851 (24hrs a day) or complete the online fault reporting form.
(Please bear in mind that most repairs are carried out in the daylight when it is not easy to establish which light is faulty without accurate information.)

To distinguish if street lights belong to Devon County Council there is a white square painted on our columns with a stencilled black number (sometimes followed by a numeric - e.g. 1A, 2B, 3C etc) inside that square. |
Repairs
If a street light is damaged it may be dangerous, especially if any wiring can be seen. You should not attempt to help by covering up or touching the wires but, if necessary, you should warn children to keep away. Please call us immediately so that we can make it safe as quickly as possible.
We aim to attend to emergencies within two or 24 hours depending on the severity of the fault. Almost all straight forward repairs will be completed within five calendar days.
Sometimes a fault is due to a failure in the electricity supply. In these cases the repair is not directly under our control and we have to instruct the Western Power Distribution Board to carry out the necessary work. This could take up to three weeks. Western Power can be contacted on 0800 365 900
